Waghi Skyline Tours, a 100% nationally owned inbound tour company based in the central highlands province of Jiwaka. We take this opportunity to welcome our international leaders and their delegates who will be in our shores for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in 2018.

As the APEC is schedule for the month of November 2018, Waghi Skyline Tours has taken the initiative to offer short pre and post visits to the highlands. The highlands region is where 50% of the country's population lives.

Although you are here for the economic summit, we highly recommend that you take back with you some memories of this country with its unique cultures, flora, fauna and traditions. Taking any of these short packages mean you have really been to Papua New Guinea and have discovered some of the unique sites that you cannot find anywhere else in the world.

Port Moresby, the nation's capital city is just like any other cities in the world that each and every participant at the APEC has come from. Participating in one of these tours is an exciting and a wonderful experience. This will also enlighten you to have a close view of the country's economy and infrastructure developments that are taking shape in the country.

TOUR WST001 - GOROKA MUDMEN TOUR (3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS)

DAY 1:
Arrive at the Goroka airport. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met, greeted and transferred to your hotel. Accommodation Bird of Paradise Hotel (2 nights)

DAY 2 (L):
Today will be the big day. You will be picked up from your hotel and commence your sightseeing tour of Goroka area and surrounds. Visits will be made to a high quality coffee factory, JK McCarthy Museum and the beautiful Goroka local market. Highlight of the trip will be a scenic drive visiting large plots of coffee plantations en-route to Asaro Village. Upon arrival at the Asaro village, you will be welcomed by a traditional sing-sing (dance) group. Here you will have the rare opportunity to see the eerie ritual performance of the famous mud clad men the "Asaro Mud-men" performing in their own natural environment. The Asaro Mud-men are originated from this village and they have their own myths and stories. You will have this opportunity to experience and learn of their cultures and traditions. This will be complimented with traditional dances and cultural activities.
Lunch will be provided at this village. This will be a traditional earth roasted (mumu) lunch with vegetables, sweet potato, banana and other ingredients. This will be a unique experience you will never forget.

DAY 3:
Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the Goroka airport for your return flight to Port Moresby.

TOUR WST002 - HIGHLANDS EXPEDITION (4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS):

DAY 1 (L):
This will be an early flight from Port Moresby to Nadzab (Lae). Upon arrival at the Nadzab airport in Lae, you will be met, greeted and transfer to tour.
After boarding your coach, a brief visit will be made to Lae industrial city. Lae is the nation's industrial city and is the main seaport linking the highlands region. The tour then leaves humid Lae heading to the highlands. It is a scenic drive travelling along the highlands highway through the Markham Valley with sites of oil palm plantations and large cow paddocks.
The tour proceeds over the highest peak of Kassam Pass bordering the highlands and the coastal regions of Lae and Madang. En-route stop at Yonki Hydro dam. This is the source of all electricity supplied to both the highlands region and coastal areas of Lae and Madang.
Arrive Goroka in the afternoon and check into your hotel for a nights rest.

DAY 2 (L):
Commence your full day coach tour Goroka to Jiwaka Province. Continue travelling along the highlands highway, you visit stop at the Asaro village where you have the rare opportunity to see the eerie ritual dances of the mud clad men, the "Asaro Mud-men" performing in their natural environment. This will be complimented with cultural activities.
Leaving this village, the tour proceeds to the top of Daulo Pass at 2748m above sea level, with excellent scenic view from the top overlooking the Asaro valley and Goroka town ship at a distance. You descend into the beautiful Simbu gorge and head to Banz in Jiwaka Province passing through Kundiawa town, the provincial capital of Simbu Province. Arrive in Banz, Jiwaka Province and settle into your hotel.

DAY 3 (L):
This will be an exciting day today. The Jiwaka Province offers excellent cultural activities with beautifully laid villages, large plots of coffee and tea plantation. The lush and fertile Waghi Valley is the home of the nations Tea and Coffee producing area. This has been the main exports for the nation up to this date. You will have the opportunity to visit these plantations and their respective factories and processing plants.
Visits will also be made to local villages where you will have the unique experience to study the local life style, traditional villages and way of living. Full cultural activities and traditional sing-sing (dances) will compliment your tour.

DAY 4 (L):
Today you travel to Mt Hagen, the capital town of Western Highlands Province. Brief sightseeing tours along the way en-route. A visit to Kunjin Ku - Anglimb original stone axe site will be included together with a visit of the famous Mt Hagen vegetable market. This is a very large market, crowded with many people, different varieties of vegetables, sweet potato, kaukau, taro, banana, peanuts and other garden produce in large quantities
The tour terminates at the Kagamuga airport in Mt Hagen for your flight to Port Moresby.

TOUR WST003 - EXPLORE JIWAKA TOUR (3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS):

DAY 1:
Arrive at the Kagamuga airport in Mt Hagen. Upon arrival, you will meet, greeted and transfer to Jiwaka Province. En-route visit large plots of coffee and tea plantations and factories with their respective processing plants and factories.

DAY 2 (L):
Today will be a whole day tour of the lush and fertile Waghi Valley and surrounding areas. Your tour will include visits to local villages and study of their daily lifestyle, way of living, cultivation, marital status and rituals. Your tour will be complimented with a full Jiwaka traditional sing-sing (dance) with added cultural activities. Today's lunch will be a traditional earth roasted (mumu) with fresh vegetable, sweet potato, banana and other ingredients.

DAY 3:
Transfer from your hotel to the Kagamuga airport in Mt Hagen for your flight to Port Moresby.

TOUR WST004 - HIGHLANDS SAFARI (4 DAYS/3 NIGHTS):

DAY 1 (L):
Upon arrival at the Kagamuga airport in Mt Hagen, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, tour the Mt Hagen area including the colourful Mt Hagen market. This market is regarded as one of the large and best markets in the region. Vegetables, sweet potato, Kau-kau, banana, peanuts, pineapple and other varieties of vegetables are sold at this market in large quantities.

DAY 2 (L)
Today's tour will take you to the Kuk Heritage site and learn of the early cultivation. Your tour continues onto the lush and fertile Waghi Valley. Here you will visit large plots of Tea and Coffee plantations and visit the respective processing plants and factories. A visit will also include the Kunjin Ku - Anglimb original Stone Axe site, this is where the original Stone Axe was produced in the early days, today replaced with metal axes.
At the Kuk Heritage site, you will find evidence of the original stone axe and digging sticks used in the past. Stone Axe used for cutting large trees and clear the bush originated from the Kunjin Ku area. With a combination of the Kuk Heritage and the Kunjin Ku - Anglimb Stone Axe original site, you will have a clear idea of the tools used during the early cultivation. Today's tour will be complimented with a traditional sing-sing dance by the beautiful local people of the Jiwaka area, popularly known as the Jiwaka Flower (Love).

DAY 3 (L):
Today will be a whole day travelling along the highlands highway, Jiwaka to Goroka. The tour passes through Kundiawa town, the provincial capital of the Simbu Province and through spectacular sceneries and the beautiful Simbu gorges.
Arrive at the top of Daulo Pass bordering the Simbu and Eastern Highlands Provinces. From the summit, you have excellent views of the Asaro Valley and the Goroka town. You descend into the Asaro Valley. Here you will visit a typical Asaro Village where you will have a rare opportunity to see the famous mud clad men, the "Asaro Mud-men" performing in their natural environment. A full traditional dance together with other village activities will be performed.

Transfer to the Goroka airport for your flight to Port Moresby.

TOUR WST005 - EXPEDITION TO ENGA (3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS)

DAY 1 (L):
Arrive at the Wapenamanda airport. Upon arrival you will be met, greeted and transfer to tour. Balance of the day tour Wapenamanda to Wabag, the capital town of Enga Province with visit to the Enga Cultural Centre (Taek Anda). This cultural centre is one of the best kept centres with informative historical items plus beautifully designed sand paintings on display.
After a visit of the cultural centre and Wabag town, your tour proceed along the highway with views of the fast flowing Lai river and spectacular waterfalls at the Walya Valley. Stops will be made for scenic views and photographs. Excellent birding in the vicinity of the Kumul lodge area.

DAY 2 (L):
Early morning birding around the Tomba and Murmur Pass, different species of the bird of paradise can be seen in the area.
After breakfast, transfer back to Mt Hagen for a whole day tour of the Mt Hagen area and surrounding area. Visits will include the beautiful Mt Hagen market and local villages for village study and activities.
